October always has me guiding a variety of trips every year but this year has even more variety than other years. Last weekend was spent fishing with a family. Saturday we fished on Megunticook Lake in Camden. The weather was cool and very windy, we did manage to catch a few fish but the fall scenery was the best part of the trip to be sure. Staying out of the strong wind was important for everyone’s comfort.
After the big rains on Thursday and Friday we are starting one of those stretches of beautiful fall weather. Cool, almost frosty, at night warm and sunny during the day. Today there is not a cloud in the sky and it is crystal blue. Fall foliage is at about its peak adding to the scene.
Yesterday my clients and I saw a big bull moose who cooperatively stood about fifty yards away while we all took pictures for maybe fifteen minutes.
Spent the last days of September fishing in the North Maine Woods for native brook trout. The trout are getting ready to spawn and are in beautiful fall colors. We had one male fish with a kype (hooked jaw) and caught good numbers of fish.
