One of the most enjoyable parts of being a guide is being a part of peoples lives. For most you are only a part on one day on a vacation. Hopefully a great experience but not one that they plan to repeat. For others though this is at least an annul part of the family schedule. While we were all busy the number of years grew and the shared experiences multiplied.

Even though I specialize in families and beginners I get to spend time outdoors with many who have lots of experience. Frequently they use a different technique or system than I do. Over the years I have learned (well mostly) to watch and see what they do that is better than the way I would approach a situation.

Part of fishing for a long time is appreciating when a specific tactic works. For me topwater lures on spinning gear are about as exciting as fishing can get. Not as great as catching a fish on a fly and watching them take the fly but a very close and exciting second.
