What could be more fun than being invited for an evening of brook trout fishing by your son. Not much that I can think of. He even knew that the hatches would be starting when we got there.

He casts well and takes much better pictures than I do. Again I am so fortunate!

Argy and I made our annual Mother’s Day trip to the Damariscotta Mills Fish Ladder to see the alewives. Not many fish in yet but a enough to make it interesting. I am guessing that the water temperature will make all of the difference over the next few days and the fish will really be in. That evening we went for our walk and were treated to this beautiful sunset.

I fished on one of my clearest lakes yesterday as part of my early spring check out. I round a few bass holding on the shallow flats but not much to get excited about. When I got into one of my favorite deeper coves I was surprised to see a school of bass all between roughly 3 and 5 pounds patrolling along the edge of a flat.
