I took the opportunity before and after my trip yesterday to do a little experimenting with the bass fishing. Normally I do not consider either largemouth or smallmouth bass to be especially fussy about what fly or lure they want but yesterday proved that wrong.
One of my basic beliefs has been challenged. I have firmly believed that good design really matters to business. This spring Maine Outdoors went from using brochures that I designed and had an almost homemade look to a four color version done by someone that I consider a very good designer. The images were critical so I also used a professional photographer.
This morning as I was bass fishing with my clients on Megunticook Lake in Camden we were surprised by a pair of loons. The loons came from a considerable distance behind us. Actually my clients came from a more considerable distance, but that is another story. Each loon swam under the boat seconds apart (they were very visible passing by in the clear water) and came up only a few feet away. In hindsight it was one of the best photo opportunities I have ever had to get an image of a loon they were so close that the green neck band was very prominent in the sunlight.
