A good part of my October is spent guiding upland bird hunters.
The colors are spectacular but the dogs are the star of the show. I was fortunate enough to guide a couple of parties this fall that took some great action shots of their hunts. Hope that you enjoy these as much as I do. Thank you Ruth Ann and Jeanie for allowing me to use your images.
As I wrote recently I am truly fortunate that my work takes me outdoors to do the things I love and then to the policy arenas where the future of those things and the places where they happen are discussed. Usually while working as the executive director of the Maine Professional Guides Association.
October flew by that is for sure. Guiding grouse and woodcock hunters at Libby Camps in northern Maine and a few in the area filled the end of the month for me. This was a year with very high numbers of birds and good weather; definitely a standard to measure others against. Sunday brought a surprise snowstorm that left a little better than six inches of new snow here in Union.
