Weekend Family Trips

Blog Tags:

I am truly fortunate to have clients that I see regularly, not necessarily each year but frequently. Some I get to spend time with every year and I really look forward to seeing them each time. Over the years we develop a close friendship that goes beyond just client guide.

One of those regular families are the Glews from MA, we have been spending time outdoors together for over twenty years (am I really that old?) and now three generations. The 4 year olds meet me at the ramp with big hugs and I get a hug when they leave. Pretty great stuff.

Over a couple of half day trips we were treated to eagles (several), ospreys, the most cooperative harbor seal I have ever seen (used the trolling motor to get within maybe 25 feet), a bunch of seals on haul out ledges and two loons that came right up into a cove with us in shallow water. Allowing u a great us a great chance to see them up close but quite the underwater diving display on top of it.

Oh yes, the boys and the adults caught a bunch of perch, a few bass and a pickerel or two. Needless to say lots of great outdoor memories for all of us and an excellent reminder for me of why I do what I do. Makes me look forward to the weeks ahead with other families and soon to be friends.

Don,

As someone who is both a customer of nature guides like yourself and someone who wants to help nature businesses, I just want to comment on how awesome this type of family relationship seems.

When I first read this in your newsletter, I hoped I would see it on your blog, too. It's a good, simple story that shows you have a long, strong history with your clients and in your industry.

You and I both want nature businesses to grow, so I'm just pointing out that this type of customer relationship can really can make a difference.

If I brought my family up to Maine, this is the kind of guide to customer experience that I'd like to establish. From my POV as a dad who wants a great outdoor experience for my family, it seems very cool.

Would you say that this type of family is an ideal customer type for you?

Thanks for posting it,

DB
