Another story from the life of a working guide

I am asked all the time by clients about the times I had a fish hook in me. Honestly it happens less than you might expect but is always memorable and makes for a good story. It happens most frequently when someone catches a very small fish on a lure with treble hooks. The fish is small and there is no time wasted getting it to the boat and the small size means no net. So it is hoisted into the air for me to unhook and is very lively.

Interesting Guide Stories

As you know part of my life is spent working as the Executive Director of the Maine Professional Guides Association and one of my duties is being the associations lobbyist at the Maine Legislature.  It is not all bad and I have come to admire those who give their time to represent us. Not that I agree with them all of the time or them me for that matter.

Snowbanks are Shrinking

Today is warm (by February in Maine standards) and sunny. The wind is blowing out of the southwest our summer direction and the forecast is calling for warmer still in the next few days. We have had snow on the ground since early December and at least in our yard it is getting hard to find places to pile it. So with luck our snowbanks will be shrinking this week.
