Eagle Fight

Yesterday on my afternoon striper fishing trip. Fishing was slow, wind was blowing and I was doing my bet to improve the situation in a secluded cove out of the wind. I watch two adult bald eagles fly around the nearby point about thirty feet above the water. I point them out to my clients a remarkable sight for sure.

Eagles Sitting Mid River

I have noted before that the eagles in the Saint George spend a lot of time sitting on the various ledges. Frequently mixed right in with the gulls. I have also noted that when the stripers are chasing bait on the water surface. (a very exciting event I can assure you) that the gulls are there as soon as it starts but the eagles have been there for five minutes waiting for it to start.

Starting times

Over the years I have become much more relaxed about the times to start my trips. A while back I wanted every client to be on the water with me at the best time of day for success. I have realized that most are after all on vacation and a start at 6 AM is not really a lot of fun.
