Today was the day that you could feel the weather turn a corner. The days are already an hour longer and in fact I took a walk in the evening light after finishing for the day. I always say that January 21st is the day that we turn the corner and in fact I heard a chickadee sing that morning. But this year the change was obvious a week later on the 29th.
Today’s storm started slowly with a few light flurries this morning and by 2 PM it is snowing very hard. We are forecast to get between one and two feet of fluffy new white stuff. The snow will last through the day today and most of the night so it is easy to see how we could get that amount. Good news is that we have warmer temperatures than we have seen in quite a while. It is currently 24 here in Union and I see that the thermometer at the airport in Owls Head is reporting a whopping 30 degrees! Warm enough to make you want to go outside without a coat if not for the wind.
Saturday was the most recent guide small business seminar. Attendance we light and there were several last minute cancellations. I prefer a bigger group as it generates a wider range of discussions and topics. Still I enjoyed the day very much and am certain that the folks attending learned more than enough to justify spending a cold winter day indoors and paying the registration fee. As always the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Conference center was perfect for the seminar.
