Early Fishing Report

The last few days have been noticeable for cold wind and rain showers. I had fishing trips two days and can report that warm, waterproof and windproof clothes are the order of the day. In spite of the weather the water levels in the Saint George are falling nicely from the spring high water. It will not be long until we are at the ideal spring levels.

On the water again this morning

At last! It has been a long cold winter to be sure with a spring that just did not want to start. Still it is 60 degrees this morning without much wind and a cloudy sky. This is the fun part of being a guide, I have to scout for the fish. That really means a few hours on the water for me, poking around to see what has changed over the winter.

Spring is coming? Isn’t it?

Snow on the ground yesterday, 19 degrees this morning and the high was near 40. At least the wind is not blowing. The calendar says spring is here but it is hard to tell the last couple of days. We had some warm weather but I was busy first with the Maine Professional Guides Association annual banquet. A huge success thank you! Then I attended the Northeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies conference in Portland where I gave a presentation.
