September is here, and it feels like the season is gently tapering down. Just last week, I took a family with kids out for what I expect will be the last family fishing trip of the season, and now the kids life vests are stowed away until next summer. My schedule, which has been jam-packed for months, is finally starting to show some openings.

Earlier this summer I told the story of an eagle picking up a surface lure that a young client was using. My season of odd bird stories is nearly complete after an osprey grabbed a bait that a young client was fishing the other day.

I've been having some trouble with my credit card reader lately. It's been balky, and a few times this summer, it hasn't worked at all. This is new because for years it was nearly perfect, even taking payments when there was no cell service.

To be honest, most of my clients are wonderful, respectable people, so if it doesn't work, they're happy to just pay an online invoice later in the day.
