Clients often ask about my favorite trip, and I always respond that a family fishing trip is it hands down. Here in the middle of the summer I do a lot of family trips mostly with young kids but many where the children are older and sometimes the grands are included. I enjoy the young kid trips the most. With bobbers and worms we chase perch and sunfish frequently getting an entire school of fish right under the boat waiting patiently for the next worm to drop overboard. The kids are high energy and the action can be frantic. I had a family with 4 kids under 10 the other day and I almost always had a fish to unhook or a hook that needed a worm for 3 hours straight. Organized mayhem on a boat and total fun.
This morning a 5 year old had maybe 30 fish on his trip while learning to cast the rod and handle a fish. I’m sure that he will tell everyone what an expert angler he is and I would have to agree. Needless to say I have a bunch more of these in my calendar and am looking forward to each one. After all school will be back in session soon enough and I won’t need worms for another year.
