I spent the last couple of mornings doing photo shoots for images that will be used to promote more folks getting into fishing. Let me report that it was quite hot on the water, especially on Tuesday and that I enjoyed it.
It is always interesting to work with photographers and videographers. They spend a lot of time thinking about light, camera angles and even the background than I ever do. It is a little frustrating because my normal focus of providing the best experience possible is replaced by getting the best image that represents that experience. Not the same thing, at all.
Working with them this week made me more aware of the things that can get into an image unintentionally. Asking another angler a little upriver who is not part of the shoot if they would mind moving so as to not be in a photo. Or turning the boat for the best lighting even if it has the anglers casting away from where the fish are. As with everything, it is great to see a different perspective. Will it make my photos any better? I doubt it because I am focused on something else entirely. On the upside Argy did sew Master Maine Guide patch on a few of my shirts and I have no plans for being recalled as a model.
