I have been down to the mouth of the Saint George several times over the last couple of weeks with clients and almost every time the fishing has been outstanding. We have caught a bunch of fish (the biggest a couple of pounds) that are very sporty on light tackle. The best part is the scenery, we are fishing among the islands off of the coast and most mornings the air is still.
The ride down is on a sheet of glass and with the air so still you can hear the birds. Not just the gulls and terns that you would expect. In addition ospreys, eagles and even the warblers picking bugs in the trees. Add in a few seals and harbor porpoises and you have a wildlife extravaganza. The folks with me today commented that although they had been to Maine many times and our area several they had never seen it quite like it was this morning. I have to agree, well worth the trip!
I have some video of the ride downriver that I hope to post very soon.
