Real Maine Winter at last

Winter is here in full force this week with some snow on Monday followed by bitter cod. The high on Wednesday was around 8 I had a meeting in the afternoon and the temperature fell from 6 when I went in to 0 when I came out at around 5:30. The current forecast calls for snow again tomorrow with accumulations of around 6 inches or so. The dogs are in the house most of the time when the temperature is so cold. Mae the pointer thinks that she has died and gone to heaven. She spends most of her time stretched out on the floor right next to the wood stove.
The Jotul 118 is not keeping up most of the time and the furnace runs more than I would like. The stove is a little too small for the house when it is this cold and it is not fair to think that it might heat the entire house when the temperature is below 0. Still it is great to have it going and it certainly makes a huge difference in the mudroom and kitchen. I really like the glass door, I think that being able to see the fire makes if feel even warmer in the room.
The Land for Maine’s Future board approved the easement purchase for the AMC to acquire their eco reserve around their sporting camps. I only wish that there was some sort of assistance for the rest of us in the industry.
