Missed Opportunities

Had a meeting with my bank yesterday to explain for about the tenth time what it is that I do. This time to explain why they should want to include some of their information in the packet that I hand out at my guide business seminar. I am pretty sure that they see the opportunity this time but the first offer was nearly missed completely and only saved by the local customer service representative. Even that extra effort did not take full advantage of the opportunity. I wonder how many times someone said that they would like to partner with me on some project or another and I dropped the ball. I hope not many.

The other event yesterday was at my local post office. Like schools everyone has problems with the postal system but their local post office is not part of the problem. I mailed several items that had been sold through my online store and through Amazon prior to Christmas and some of them never showed up. Needless to say by the time I was finished refunding customers, paying for shipping that did not happen and replacing items that disappeared I was not happy. I spoke to the local postmaster and of course it is not their fault. This month I had an envelope addressed to my mother returned with supposedly the incorrect address. Some postal employee on the other end decided that they did not want to deliver that one and sent it back, putting a sticker over the correct address. Luckily the postmaster resent that one. Now we are discovering that some of our bill payments have not been delivered. No big deal we can resend the checks but the striking thing was the postmaster who commented that I was the only one who was having problems with them and that I must be making it up. Customer service at it’s absolute finest!

I had this sort of trouble in the past and switched to a PO Box because that would supposedly cure these problems and they were better for a few years but now I am right back where I started. Another missed opportunity to collaborate and solve a customer’s problem!
