A dreary November day

A steady rain this afternoon one of those foggy cold damp days that always comes in November. The good news is that it is not very cold (52 degrees right now) and it is pretty easy on the wood pile. I have all of my wood in and am getting ready to split next years supply so it will be easy to put in next fall. No rush that is for sure.

I had Mae the pointer out yesterday afternoon for an hour or so right behind the house we found 3 woodcock and got the total drop in the grouse that lives there. Mae pointed and moved four or five times and when the bird finally flushed I would have had an excellent wide open shot. Of course it is much to close to the houses on the road for any actual hunting. Not to mention the neighbor’s dog is so gun shy that I can’t use a training pistol in my back yard without it hiding under the bed. So I try to be a little quiet.

It is supposed to be warm and sunny tomorrow I just might have a chance for a fishing trip on the Saint George River for brown trout. The last few years I have enjoyed some pretty good fishing for recently stocked brown trout. Hopefully this year will be the same. There is nothing like a couple of hours stolen from your desk on a warm sunny afternoon with a couple of fish thrown in as a bonus.
