All of the talk over the last six months or so about the banking system troubles have to be seemed sort of academic to me until the last couple of weeks. Guide services have never been really popular for small business loans and are still not; so no change there. Recent events though have driven the troubles home for me.
Tuesday I had the opportunity to present to a class on ecotourism at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor. I was asked to talk about the realities of running a small business that is focused on outdoor recreation.
Argy and I spent the last few days travelling with Nicholas our youngest son visiting colleges. This time was different as we were spending time at colleges that had accepted him. It was more than a little interesting to watch each institution put their best foot forward to prospective customers. Overall an enlightening experience and one with useful lessons for my small business.
