Cold Dark and Damp

We have had quite the stretch of weather. Rain, fog and cold for days; just not very nice to get out in and the lights are on all day. I have been in the office for a few days and am nearly caught up (don’t tell anyone) a warm afternoon to go and cast a fly would be a great diversion but it is not in the plan for a few days.

Short days!

Winter is here and the days are short, we have about nine hours of daylight and an overcast day like today shortens it even more. I drove home in complete darkness at around 4:30 in the afternoon yesterday, a big change from the summer when evening fishing trips can easily stretch out to 8:30 PM.

Late fall has an upside

We can see the sunrise! This time of year the days are short here in Maine. A rainy or snowy afternoon has the lights on in the house by three thirty or so in the afternoon and sunrise is at around seven AM. The sun rises further to the south every day which puts the sunrise directly in the view from the house and office. Something we cannot see in the summer as it rises out of our view.
