Six More Weeks

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so it looks like we've got about six more weeks of winter.  Here in Maine, that usually means we're looking at mid-March for the unofficial end of winter, and ice-out sometime in early April.  For me, that's about two months until I can get the boat back in the water and start guiding open water fishing trips – I can't wait!

Argy and I enjoyed a lovely walk in the woods last night.  There's not quite enough snow to need snowshoes, and while the walking wasn't effortless, it was a pleasant evening stroll.  Overall, this has been a fantastic winter so far, with at least a foot of solid ice on all the lakes and ponds.

We started out with very little snow, and we still haven't had a major blizzard.  The weather pattern has been pretty consistent: a few days of clear, frigid temperatures followed by a small snowstorm. Just enough to keep the plows busy and the scenery beautifully refreshed. The upside is that the snow we do get is light and fluffy, making it a breeze to shovel or even sweep away.

I'll be running ice fishing trips for a few more weeks, and then I'll have some time to get everything prepped and ready for you all to get out on the water with me.  Some folks have already booked their trips for the coming season, which is great!  Just a friendly reminder that I'll be reducing the number of trips I'm offering this summer, so there will be fewer dates available.  If you're thinking about booking, it's a good idea to reach out sooner rather than later. You can make a reservation for your trip at this link.
