I had seen a few loon chicks in the last week or so but this morning they were all out and about. Including this newly hatched pair that was riding on a parents back when we first spotted them. We saw three 
different sets of checks on various parts of Megunticook Lake.
The most interesting event was watching an adult eagle making a serious effort to catch a couple of loon chicks. Both survived this time as the eagle gave up the chase but for a minute I was pretty sure we were going to see the newly hatched chicks not make it past their first week.
Pretty interesting fishing trip this morning! Oh and we caught a few nice bass too.
