Late fall has an upside

We can see the sunrise! This time of year the days are short here in Maine. A rainy or snowy afternoon has the lights on in the house by three thirty or so in the afternoon and sunrise is at around seven AM. The sun rises further to the south every day which puts the sunrise directly in the view from the house and office. Something we cannot see in the summer as it rises out of our view. Since sunrise is not so late in the morning I am always up to see it, not so in the summer when it is full light by the time I get up at four forty five AM. As I write this morning the sun is just peaking up between Spruce and Pleasant mountains rising into a cold blue sky with a few clouds.

This is very nearly as far south as it will travel before the swing back toward the north starts for another season. I am looking forward to the winter and next summer but hoping for a few more warm afternoons to get out and fish or work the dogs before the winter gets serious.
