Fly Fishing

Trips come in bunches that is for sure and lately I have been on a teaching fly fishing kick. Several learn to fly fish trips last week and an afternoon of teaching fly casting at Sweetgrass Winery to round out the week.

It has been fun to introduce new folks to casting a flyline and as always there have been a few adventures. When I am introducing flyfishing I always try to have the first several fish be small ones to introduce handling the rod and line with a fish at the end in an easy way. Not so on one of my trips last week. I could not seem to find a small bass in any of the usual places. After an hour or so of trying this is the first volunteer of the morning. We landed the fish but it made for a very interesting few minutes that is for sure.

Casting on the lawn has a different set of rewards but still a lot of fun to get new casters to do something that they did not think that they could do.
