Trips this weekend had me on a variety of locations on the Saint George River, this afternoon when I stopped to review last couple of days I realized that I had been over quite a bit of the watershed.
Saturday morning had me on a family mackerel fishing trip out of Thomaston Harbor, we ran downriver to fish among the islands off of Port Clyde. Mackerel where everywhere and according to my anglers we boated over 60 fish and saw seals and harbor porpoises. Saturday afternoon with another family on a Nature Exploration canoe trip we saw loons, eagles and ospreys. Oh by the way the kids caught a few fish too; smallmouth bass, perch and largemouth bass.
Sunday I was on Seven Tree Pond in Union on a bass fishing trip where we caught white and yellow perch, pickerel, largemouth and smallmouth bass (including 4 over three pounds), saw two eagles and a couple of loons; another great day on the water. In two days I covered half of the watershed, enjoyed a series of great adventures and am really enjoying the middle of the summer season; especially now that the heat wave is over and we are back to low humidity and afternoon temperatures in the 70’s. Much more like what I had in mind!
