It has been pretty warm this week here hopefully not quite as warm where you are. It is the middle of summer and of course we expect a few days in the 80's but still it is not any fun here. We are just not
used to the warmth.
Yesterday I was in a meeting (even guides need to get out of the sun on a warm afternoon) as part of my gig as the Executive Director of the Maine Professional Guides Association. Someone in the meeting exclaimed that their organization was going to focus on getting families outdoors for the next few years. Needless to say I felt sort of proud because that is what guides in general do and Maine Outdoors specifically does almost every day! There are trips specifically designed to get your family outdoors. Whether fishing, in a canoe or simply seeing the Maine Coast from the water.
Make your reservation for a family outing! Even without that reservation it is time to get out there and make some memories with your family. We are in the middle of summer and already the shorebirds have started their migration south so time is getting short to take advantage of it.

This week it was as foggy as it gets on the Saint George River. Luckily the tide was up which makes it easy to follow the shoreline to my favorite fishing spots. Fog makes for some great striper fishing if not easy navigation because the light is low longer in the day keeping the fish a little more active. The families with me enjoyed some excellent fishing even if they had no idea how beautiful the scenery was! Read more......
