Spring is well on its way here. The brooks are running bank full as the snow slowly melts, the fields are free of snow for the first time since Christmas and the birds have begun to return. This week Argy and I were on our evening walk and I commented that the woodcock should be back soon no sooner were the words out of my mouth and we could hear that unmistakable twitter overhead. They are back!
The ice is starting to go in the ponds and is pretty much gone from the river like every spring there are flocks of ducks and geese right at the edge of the melting ice I am sure all headed further north and trying to hurry the thaw so that they can continue on. In the next few weeks I hope to launch a boat and get back on the water. My winter of meetings and events as the Executive Director for the Maine Professional Guides Association has been busy, we have had great winter weather but I am ready for spring to arrive.
Hope that you are able to get out and enjoy the approaching spring!
