Wind and Rain

Blog Tags:

This morning is gray with a light rain and a strong northeast wind. Not one of our finest May days to be sure. But there are signs that spring is progressing as usual everywhere that you look. The Canada Mayflowers are in bloom in the woods as are the trilliums. Hummingbirds returned to our feeder over the weekend and I am sure have started a nest somewhere close by. Blackflies arrived on Mother’s Day right on schedule when we went to Trillium anenomesDamariscotta Mills to see the Alewives.

I heard grouse drumming yesterday so their spring is off to a normal start as well. I will be fishing at the end of the week so let’s hope for improving weather and warming water temperatures.
