Spared the worst of the storm

It is raining this morning but we have been spared the heavy rain that fell south of Portland. In fact we had sun and wind most of the time that they were having all of that rain. It’s weird to think that only seventy five miles away the difference could be so drastic. With the stripers still headed up the coast I hope that all of that fresh water will not discourage them in their journey to visit with my clients.

We have a hen turkey on a nest across the road and she has taken to visiting the bird feeder for a mid day meal. I was wondering why none of the turkeys had found the bird feeder all winter. Apparently they had and I just did not know it. One of our neighbors has also gotten a guinea fowl that is being allowed to run free, it has been visiting the yard in the afternoon to squawk at the dogs. Of course the dogs bark and carry on so it is quite the show for everyone involved. Hopefully the bird will be confined soon and the big event of the afternoon will change.

I am working this morning on a presentation for the staff at the visitor’s information centers run by the Maine Tourism Association. It is a little unsettling to be presenting to folks that may well know more about the topic than I do. With any luck I can give them some new information and help them in explaining about the outdoor recreation possibilities that are available to tourists visiting our state.
