Slower Pace in September

Blog Tags:

Even after 22 years I am always a little let down in September the frantic pace of summer is gone and the fall flurry has not started. So I have this window of time with excellent weather and a fairly low number of trips. When you run a small business of course the first thing you feel is guilty. “I should be out there guiding someone every day” then reality sets in there is still plenty to do. Dogs need exercise before the season (not to mention the guide who did not do a lot of walking all summer), firewood needs to be split and put in before winter and a thousand errands that were put off since June must be accomplished. So I am enjoying the nice weather and a few days to get caught up. Still it seems odd not to have one trip right after another.

The other thing that happens to me is that all of the meetings that had been put off through the summer happen at once. I was able to schedule three back to back in Augusta yesterday. So when I think about it there is not any reason to feel guilty about not guiding every day. In fact I better get to work!
