I have a project underway developing a CD that contains a series of reports, am developing a new marketing seminar for guides and the lobbying season is winding up. That season should be in full swing by the second week in December. We will have a better sense of the political landscape after tomorrow.
So it is not a time with nothing to do but a change in what I do each day. More time sitting at my desk and none with a fly rod in my hand. I won’t complain I already spend more time fishing than most people and only missed a few days of the October woodcock season.
The governor’s race has been an interesting discussion of what the future of Maine might look like. Convincing the legislature to go along was left out of the discussion. Whether the balance of Republicans to Democrats shifts or not they can be difficult to convince to move in any bold direction.
I have come to rely on a Palm Pilot in my winter work and have recently up graded to an E2 with a WiFi antenna to enable me to download e-mail wherever there is an open wireless network. It is very cool and feels pretty much like the future when I download my e-mail. The web browser is amazing and allows a tiny view of almost any web site.
I realized this weekend that I have transitioned from guiding full time to working indoors in my other life. I was feeling unsettled by the change but did not realize that it had happened. So much for paying attention.
