After an almost perfect day yesterday the skies clouded up this morning and the rain started at around 10. It has been very dry so we can use a little moisture to keep the garden’s going even if it does make the lawn grow. In the last week I have done more mackerel fishing than I have in a long time. Here is the view looking back at Port Clyde yesterday afternoon. I am sure you will agree that it was nearly a perfect day.
A large group booked a series of learn to fly fish trips that where we fished on saltwater and caught a few mackerel. Of course the kids that were along caught a bunch on spinning gear as well. I enjoyed fishing next to the lighthouse at the end of the Rockland Breakwater, quite the scenic backdrop for a fishing trip.
I have also done a series of striper fishing trips with young kids and as part of those. I am running down to the islands at the mouth of the river to catch a few mackerel for bait. Again because I am out among the islands with ospreys and eagles in the background the scenery is the best part of the trip. Of course kids excitedly reeling in mackerel one after another certainly adds to the moment.
