More Snow!

A light wet snow is falling this morning. I think that it must be in advance of a front because it is so warm. I’m sure that we won’t have much accumulation and we lost quite a bit of what we had over the weekend. Yesterday was a perfect early winter day, light wind, sunshine and pretty warm. We took advantage and brought in our Christmas tree. Argy took a few pictures with a beautiful winter sunset in the background. It is really starting to look a lot like Christmas here.

As anticipated I had to cancel my duck hunt on Saturday, the worst of it was that the wind in the harbor did not seem to reflect the forecast but I did not feel confident that it would not come up while we were out. In fact the small craft advisory that was supposed to be taken down that morning was extended all day. So a good call I guess. It is never pleasant having to tell someone that their trip can’t happen. There is always the nagging feeling that you could have done it or that you could work an edge somewhere. Of course the clients have traveled a distance and made lots of arrangements so the pressure to go is pretty great. In fact these hunters came anyway even after I had called them and told them not to come. Hoping I am sure that I was wrong or would change my mind about conditions. I suppose that part of being an older experienced guide is losing some of the willingness to take big risks on conditions having seen what it looks like when the weather worsens a few to many times.
