It is hot this week to be sure with temperatures near 90 and a west wind that keeps the sea breeze from cooling us off in the afternoon. The signs of the coming fall are all around though. A few leaves have changed on the trees that are under stress, like those growing in wet areas. Goldenrod is in full bloom and the sumac is magnificent with its bright red berries. For me though it was driven home this morning when I walked out to get the newspaper and shuffled through fallen leaves in the driveway. The maple by the driveway is already mostly turned bright red and now has started to drop a few leaves.
For those of you wondering yes it was still dark, another sure sign that the days are getting shorter and fall is on the way. September is busy without much of a let up from August, still you can feel the change of seasons now.
