A change in the seasons

I put the Lund away for the winter this week. It is always kind of sad to take out all of the safety equipment and the little things that I have on board to make my job easier like the long hook for grabbing decoy lines. It has been an amazing year filled with many great memories of trips with folks that I look forward to seeing again next year. I had already put the strip built canoe in the rafters of the garage and all of the canoes are on the rack behind the house so I am ready for the indoor phase of my year to get started.

I spent yesterday doing interviews for the new executive director of the Maine Conservation School. We had a series of good candidates and in the end it was hard to settle on three to recommend to the full Board of Directors. We are sending folks with pretty different skill sets but each of them delivers something that the School needs at the moment. I did have a moment in the middle of the day when I thought wow these folks have great skills how can I compete. I recovered after a few minutes.

My indoor season will be very busy next week and really busy after the first of the year. Luckily I have some time off over the holidays to spend with my family and enjoy simply being home.
