What exactly do you do?

I know that many wonder about this all of the time. Simply put I help folks create great outdoor memories. But what exactly does that mean?

Yesterday I had the pleasure to guide someone that I have known from my role as the Executive Director of the Maine Professional Guides Association. Our interactions are usually at some meeting about Maine’s natural resources. He had only a vague idea of what I do so this trip was an eye opener for him and a great reminder for me. Here was someone who really does not have the time to fish frequently and the how to is a slight barrier. He explained it this way “you made it easy to go fishing” Everything was provided fishing license, rods and reels (including spares when one had a problem) a cold drink if needed and the knowledge of where to go. Not to mention that the boat was entirely off of the list of things he had to worry about and someone else handled that flopping wiggly fish to get it back into the water quickly. After a picture or two of course. Or that a less than perfect weather day was made pretty comfortable by knowing the places that were out of the wind and had a few fish to catch.

This gentleman already sees a lot of Maine and knows the backroads of the state but even he experienced a part of Maine that was new and interesting. I suppose that I really do make it simple even down to cleaning and icing the nice rainbow trout that he decided to keep for supper that night.

So you walk away with the great memory without the details getting in the way.
