Week off!

This week was planned to be my last at Libby Camps for the fall. Like millions of others though my plans were changed by the storm. The Beautiful November Morning on Megunticook Lakecamp called on Monday to report that the party scheduled for this week could not get flights to Maine and was cancelling. It is never a good thing to have a cancelation but under the circumstances certainly understandable.

We did have lots of wind and quite a bit of rain as a result of the storm. Our power was out for a day or so keeping both Argy and I from working at our desks. The maple at the end of our driveway had the top blown out; nothing when compared to the disruptions that others are experiencing.

So there I was with a week off, it had been fully scheduled so few calls or e-mails came in. I hunted grouse and woodcock with the dogs and launched the boat on Megunticook Lake for a little fishing. As you can see the late season conditions were perfect for a morning on the water. Yes I caught a dozen bass between 2 and 4 pounds. Took an hour or so the get the fly and retrieve combination worked out though.

An excellent unexpected vacation! Back at it next week lots of desk work and with luck a day or two guiding. Hope that the folks further south are able to recover from the storm before winter arrives.
