If you care

Leave them there! That is the tagline from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife about young animals in the spring. To make that point. This morning I was on my way to a boat launch and saw Hiding Whitetail Fawna deer just off of the side of the road. She clearly did not want to leave as I approached and when she did leave did not go far. A couple of easy hops into the woods. I saw what looked like perhaps an injured fawn where she had been and stopped to see; I was wrong. Here is the fawn staying right where her mother told her to. Being still and not even blinking an eye.

I got this picture from a distance away with the miracle of the cell phone camera zoom. Pretty great start to the morning for me. Oh and the fishing was not too shabby either!
