Fog and Stripers

Blog Tags:

This morning it was as foggy as it gets on the Saint George River. Luckily the tide was up which makes it easy to follow the shoreline to my fishing spots. Fog makes for some great striper fishing if not easy navigation because the light is low longer in the day keeping the fish a little more active.

The fishing is better than it has been for long time with my parties catching a number of fish on each trip. Nothing to brag about for size but the numbers and action more than make up for that. T have been very willing to take flies making for a few excellent mornings for fly casters.

ON each trip I try to get the fish to take a surface popper but no luck although they batted a fly rod popper a number of times this morning. Needless to say if you have been thinking about a summer striper fishing trip this is the summer!
