Last weekend Argy, Noah and I hiked to the top of Maiden Cliff in Camden. The cliff is very plain from Megunticook Lake and I usually point out the cross high up on the cliff face to clients on fishing trips. I also recommend the short hike up the trail for the view; you can see out over Penobscot Bay for some distance and look down on the lake. We hiked up to right above the cross and took this picture looking across the lake back toward the boat launch on Route 105 where I start and end my fishing trips. 
You can plainly see the trails at the Snow Bowl Camden's ski area (their last day of operation for the winter) but most importantly there is a fair amount of open water. The ice has melted away from the shore along much shoreline around the islands. There is a real possibility of being able to launch a boat and fish this April first (the first day of our open water fishing season).
With the rain and wind of Sunday afternoon and Monday morning I am sure that the ice has broken up even more and it is only the middle of March. Time to get back on the water for a little fishing and canoeing!
Sure Sign of Spring!
I know that it is early in the season but I could not resist the warm sort of, sunny and breezy morning. I called to see if the Lund Alaskan could go in for its annual spring overhaul. The answer was of course. So I spent the morning taking the cover off and towing the boat to Waldoboro. A sure sign of the approaching spring!
LL Bean Spring Fishing Event
I will be offering a session at the LL Bean spring fishing event this Saturday. My presentation is scheduled for 2PM in the Main Store in Freeport for the Maine Professional Guides Association. On Sunday at 2PM I will be on a panel with Maine's Fisheries Biologists as they announce a new web based application that anglers will really like. Spectacular Mornings
Early this month we had a few days where we were coated with wet snow. Temperatures were warm for the time of year; just around freezing. The result was very wet snow conditions with some fog that has resulted in spectacular sunrises through patchy cloud cover. I went out early one morning and got a bunch of nice pictures but I think that this is the best of the series.
