No this is not a trick or treat or even an election message. Although I do encourage all of you to get out and vote next week. Rather a celebration of a good season and to thank you for being part of it. What a year it was! You all helped by going into the Maine Outdoors with me.
It was for sure a crazy spring and early summer, but I was kept going by the Maine residents on my customer list. Many of you bought gift certificates in the early spring that helped reassure me that everything would be OK in the end. It was. Speaking of those gift certificates I will honor any that you have going forward. No worries that they will expire, I intended to take you on that trip and still intend to do just that in the future if you have not gone yet.
The spring of Zoom transitioned nicely to being on the water every day and in the woods many days in October. I am always delighted to be along when someone catches their first fish or like Monday when I helped someone catch a species new to them. Fishing was good all season on fresh and saltwater with some great days on the water along with a couple of shut outs. Luckily not many of those.
Showing folks this corner of the world and some of the interesting sights be it eagles, seals or even huge schools of menhaden (OK pogies) in the Saint George is a great privilege. Late fall is slower time for me with the chance to get outdoors on my own. Hunting with the dogs, duck hunting and doing a little late season fishing. All at a pleasant leisurely pace.
Planning for next season is already under way here. I ordered a new boat motor and trailer combo in September (another 20 foot Lund Alaskan) and am showing the current one to its potential new owner this week.
I hope that you all are staying well and enjoying the outdoors wherever you are. Hopefully getting outside as often as possible.
Best regards,
