The winter has settled in after a stretch of very cold days it is at what I would call seasonable temperatures, Teens at night and twenties during the day. The daylight is around for almost an hour more each say so even though it is cold the days do not feel as dreary. Argy and I both commented on the pleasant afternoon light this weekend. If only we had a little more snow for some cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.
My company Maine Outdoors is an S Corporation which means that I take a small salary for my efforts. (Let’s not discuss my hourly rate it is below the minimum wage by a long shot) As a normal part of getting a paycheck every month I pay unemployment insurance. Because of some wording in the rules I am not allowed to draw that insurance because of being an officer of the corporation. No problem so far, I am willing to do my part to keep the pool going and someday I hope to have an employee that might need the insurance. Not to mention it is a small amount each month.
The sky does not have a single cloud and is a bright blue contrasted with the white snow on the ground. A beautiful winter day, except that the temperature is struggling to reach 20 and the wind is howling in the trees. Oh well I tell folks all of the time that we have 10 days in the summer when it is to hot to go outside and 10 days in the winter when it is to cold to go outside. Today is one of the cold ones.
