I firmly believe that an important part of running my business is giving something back to the community that makes the business possible. To do that I serve on three organizations boards The Maine Conservation School, The Maine Tourism Association and Unity College. The school and college are both focused on developing future generations awareness and understanding of the natural world, something that I see as critical. The Tourism Association is more of a professional organization but I hope to raise awareness and respect for my segment of the industry with them.
A short time ago I was lamenting the winter that we were not having this year. I take it back. The current temperature is 10 degrees Fahrenheit which is our forecast high for the day and the wind is blowing a consistent 20 MPH with some gusts much higher. The snow that fell this morning as the front passed through is being swirled down the field across the street. This weather is forecast to last all week with only a few flurries to break the monotony. Below zero at night and single numbers or teens during the day. Wow winter is here with a plan to make up for lost time.
Snowing lightly this morning and warmer than it has been for a while. The noon temperature is almost 30 degrees. We are forecast to get a few inches of snow tomorrow hopefully enough to make cross country skiing possible. It would be nice to get out on my skis a few times this winter.
