This morning was breezy and cloudy with the threat of rain on the horizon. Very similar to last Monday with water temperatures having fallen a little further. Last week my clients did well on bass pickerel and pike. I had nothing on my calendar and decided to take advantage of the conditions and see if I could do as well as they did. Keep in mind that I have had a truly big pike on my list for some time.

Aldo Leopold opens A Sand County Almanac with the thought: “There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot. These essays are the delights and dilemmas of one who cannot.” That sentiment really resonates with me.

Until today October has felt a lot like a summer month. Warm and dry with little wind. The leaves started to change color, but the air did not feel much like fall. This morning though we were greeted with a spectacular sunrise followed by rain showers and a wind shift at high tide. The change is remarkable; the air has a chill to it and the breeze is notable. Fall is here! Time to put the glass in the storm doors.
