A trip designed for the person interested in fishing but feels like there is too much to learn. This is a chance to spend three hours with a patient teacher going over the basics. Things like casting, rod and line selection, basic knots and what lure or bait to use or where to fish. Not all of the information you will ever need but a good start on the basics. From how to cast a line to landing a fish we will cover it all; in a fun way. Oh, and by the way we will plan to catch a fish or two.
Got brand new equipment but don’t have any idea how to use it? Bring it along and we can have you set up and fishing with an understanding of not only how to but why in our time together. You’ll have an exclusive, private trip starting in your chosen location. We’ll introduce the family to the fun of learning new fishing skills while gaining an appreciation for the history and culture of the region. Since you’ll not be part of a larger group, we can arrange the trip around your interests We’ll make the most of your time on this trip whether it is a full-day or a few hours.
Where and When
Fishing basics can take us to a variety of lakes and ponds in the area; mid-coast Maine is an excellent fishing region. We often focus on Megunticook Lake in Camden or Seven Tree Pond in Union, and in saltwater from Thomaston Harbor. We will select specific locations to meet your preferences and the weather.

Since you'll have a private, exclusive trip, fishing from a 20-foot Lund Alaskan set up to make fishing easy. We’ll provide the equipment for fly or spin fishing including bait and life jackets provided for your size family and children. If you’d like to use your own gear, bring it along! We’re happy to show you around your new equipment.

All of our trips begin and end at public boat launches. These launches have restrooms available. If you need to use the restroom during your trip, we can easily return to the starting point.
