It rained heavily again Sunday night and today we have drizzle and fog. This June is the wettest on record and I would guess that the number of sunny days is pretty low. The tidal portion of the Saint George looks like a chocolate milkshake and the freshwater section is out of its banks. Not very conducive weather for the sort of outdoor activities that Maine Outdoors offers in the summer.
This June sure has been cold and wet until today. I keep bringing in a little more wood for the stove and thinking that will be the last of it. Of course we all complain about the chilly damp weather but when I looked back in my notes early June is almost always cool and damp. The real question is when will the summer weather start. Since my calendar is pretty full after this week I am hoping for the change in the next few days. But who really knows?
The summer is here and already off to a great start. There seem to be plenty of eagles and ospreys this season and they are almost always part of the early season striper fishing mix. Last Saturday afternoon really made that point. Capt. George Harris of Superfly Charters and I were fishing on the Saint George between Thomaston Harbor and Warren Village checking to see if the stripers had arrived (not that day).
