Monday I guided a pair of anglers on Megunticook Lake in Camden. After last weeks rain storm the lake has come up a full eighteen inches and the water temperature fell five degrees. A strong west wind blew at times up to thirty miles per hour. Needless to say fishing was slow! Still with persistence and willing anglers we were able to bring maybe ten fish to the boat. The new trolling motor on the Lund Alaskan held its own all day in the wind; fishing without it would have been nearly impossible in that wind.
The big news was the near perfect foliage and crystal blue skies. The pictures simply do not give an complete picture of how beautiful the day was. One of those days when you look around and realize how fortunate you are to be here! I still have about a month of fishing left in this season why don't you join me?
Family Fall Fishing!
October always has me guiding a variety of trips every year but this year has even more variety than other years. Last weekend was spent fishing with a family. Saturday we fished on Megunticook Lake in Camden. The weather was cool and very windy, we did manage to catch a few fish but the fall scenery was the best part of the trip to be sure. Pretty Brook Trout!
I was lucky to have spent the last days of September fishing in the North Maine Woods for native brook trout. The trout were getting ready to spawn and in beautiful fall colors. We had one male fish with a kype (hooked jaw) and caught good numbers of fish.
It is quite the visual with the leaves in full color and the trout as pretty as they can be. The next few weeks are the best part of the entire year, a time I look forward to all year long. Every trip whether fishing, canoeing or upland bird hunting is a treat. October does not last long enough for me! Pictures here.
