A light wet snow is falling this morning. I think that it must be in advance of a front because it is so warm. I’m sure that we won’t have much accumulation and we lost quite a bit of what we had over the weekend. Yesterday was a perfect early winter day, light wind, sunshine and pretty warm. We took advantage and brought in our Christmas tree. Argy took a few pictures with a beautiful winter sunset in the background. It is really starting to look a lot like Christmas here.
Snowing like crazy this morning and blowing a gale. Winter arrives at last. I was scheduled to guide a party of duck hunters this morning but cancelled on account of the anticipated wind the snow is completely unexpected. For a brief time while I had the dogs out it was snowing quite hard. It has lightened up some but is still snowing. The latest forecast guess has us getting around 6 inches or so. Just enough to make the Christmas decorations look great.
After a rediculously warm and wet November December has got us back to normal. It was 15 degrees outside this morning when I got up. With the sun at 9 AM we have warmed back to 19 so it is not going to be a very warm day. At least it finally feels like late fall in Maine. We even had a little snow yesterday so the fields are covered with white. We had a strong northwest wind last night but it has gone down this morning. My duck hunters at the end of the week may be preempted by a forecast that includes a gale warning for Friday and a small craft advisory on Saturday.
