The new Lund Alaskan is scheduled for delivery in a couple of weeks, that is assuming that the weather begins to look a little more like spring (10 degrees with a strong wind at 9 AM today), and the boat that has been my working platform for the last six years was for sale. Until yesterday.
As we stood in the wind and cold and the new owner asked all of the pertinent mechanical questions I was tempted to tell all about the many hundreds of hours and thousands of great memories that were made on board. Many kids caught their first fish, some folks caught the biggest fish of their lifetimes, some learned a new skill, some saw my part of the world from the water for the first time and many made memories that will last a lifetime with their families and friends.
When I think about all of those great memories it is sad to see the old boat head down the hill; of course with the replacement already in the wings there are just as many memories soon to be made. I am looking forward to doing just that over the coming seasons.
Still it is hard to see a dependable old friend off for the last time even though it will continue to provide excellent outdoor memories for someone else.

New boat
Can't wait to see your new boat. hard to believe you are still in single numbers up there, but it's the heavy snowpack reflecting the sun during the day radiating it all back at night..Think spring and summer will be very lush and green up there this year..
