I was watering the plants in the yard last evening and noticed these little fellows over the light on the garage. Another successful nest full of phoebe’s headed out into the world very soon. That nest has produced two batches this summer a testament to a good location (under the eves) and diligent parents.
It is mid-summer and there are fledging birds everywhere. This week on the saltwater the young snowy egrets showed up for the first time. I have no idea where they nest but they arrived in the Saint George in numbers this week. Likewise, the great blue herons seem to be everywhere along with eagles young and old. Kingfishes are now rattling everywhere, adding a little sound to the scene. Truly an abundance of stuff to see.
But it means that summer is already slipping away and while I have never been a fan of the hot weather I will miss summer when it is gone. The long days the fun fishing and spending time outdoors with clients.
It’s not over yet but it will be fall soon enough. I noticed a flaming red maple brace hanging over the water one morning this week, Advance notice that fall is coming even if it is still warm. I am about halfway through stacking in next winters firewood another sure sign here.
