We're having quite a start to May! I heard this morning it might be our wettest on record, and I can believe it. While I don't mind the rain too much, I'm definitely getting a bit weary of these chilly temperatures.
Yesterday, out on Damariscotta Lake, it was in the forties, with a stiff northwest wind and the occasional sprinkle for good measure. This morning, down by the saltwater, we had fewer sprinkles, but it was still quite windy. And now, after my fishing trip and a grocery run for tomorrow, I'm home, and it's a brisk 48 degrees. I'm still cold an hour later and have even resorted to lighting a fire in the woodstove! It's not exactly the warm and sunny weather we're all longing for.
The silver lining, I suppose, is that I haven't seen a single blackfly or mosquito. I'm sure summer is on its way, but it seems to be taking its own sweet time getting here!
